Challenging Brown is a gripping new drama by acclaimed playwright Cris Eli Blak, currently a staff writer for Starz's hit series Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

Set in 1967 Texas and inspired by true events, the play follows Gordon Brown, the first Black teacher at an all-white high school. As prejudice and resistance threaten to break him, Gordon must decide what he is willing to sacrifice in pursuit of dignity, justice, and change.

Directed by Houston artist Alric Davis, this powerful production marks the latest collaboration between Davis and Blak and serves as the third installment of Shabach Enterprise's Vanguard Series, dedicated to bold new voices and compelling stories.
